57th Regiment monument and cemetery (2nd of 5)

57th Regiment monument and cemetery

This memorial in Te Hēnui cemetery, New Plymouth, commemorates members of the 57th Regiment who died in Taranaki between 1861 and 1866. The memorial was supplied by a London mason and erected by members of the regiment before they left New Zealand in early 1867. The 57th Regiment arrived in New Zealand from India in 1861 and fought in both Taranaki and Waikato.
