Greenstone adze

Greenstone adze

The Tāwhirirangi canoe landed in Bay of Plenty before heading to the South Island, where the captain, Ngāhue, is said to have discovered pounamu (greenstone, or New Zealand jade). This adze is made in the East Polynesian style.
